CHRISTOPH, AUSTRIA - SALES AND MARKETING

23 years

Student of Business Informatics and Business Economics

Sales and Marketing placement

Internship of 3 months

My name is Christoph Karer and I am studying Business Informatics and Business Economics at University of Linz, Austria. In the course of my studies it is not compulsory to do an internship abroad, but in my opinion it is one thing you shouldn’t miss.

My internship at Auto ID Services Ltd. began in the Service department. There I had a database of about 3200 companies and I had to call them and ask if they were interested in service or maintenance contracts respectively our products. After about two weeks I moved to the wholesale department where I stayed until the end of my internship. In the wholesale department my main task is to attend to our current customers and to win new ones for our company.

Our managing director Martin Mulligan always says: We have to win orders and we have to aim at being in the sales club! This means you are under pressure all the time, because you are measured every day anew. It sounds quite hard and maybe it is not easy at the beginning, but you learn how to cope with the situation. But an internship at Auto ID Services Ltd. doesn’t mean you are working all the time. As there are about 10 to 15 students in the office there is always a nice atmosphere and students always plan nice trips on weekends and go out together.

I really enjoyed my placement at Martin Mulligan and I hope you will have as much fun as I had in St Helens.
